INTRODUCTION

I am pleased to be auctioning the original painting "Portsmouth Flypast" and by doing so helping support the charity Help for Heroes. 50% of the paintings sale price will be donated to the charity.

I am a professional British artist; specialising in military aviation paintings since 2013. With a passion for detail, I create compositions which portray aircraft accurately and in a way that is highly detailed and visually engaging. My desire is to create art that people can admire, enjoy and pass down to future generations.

With my artwork mainly being of a military nature; it is an honour supporting a charity which looks after our military personnel; individuals who have given so much, and been through so much.

ABOUT THE PAINTING

I was asked by Gibsons Games to create a scene to use as the design for a special 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings (6th June 1944); remembering the bravery and sacrifice of all those who took part.

Featuring Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth leaving Portsmouth, with two Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfires flying overhead. Portsmouth was the headquarters and main departure point for the naval and military units heading for Normandy.

HELP FOR HEROES & GIBSONS

Gibsons teamed up with Help for Heroes and produced a fantastic branded box design to highlight the charity and help raise money; donating a percentage from the sale of each puzzle.

Help for Heroes supports those with injuries and illnesses attributable to their service in the British Armed Forces. Regardless of when someone serves, Help for Heroes want those who were prepared to put their lives second, to have the second chance at life they deserve. The charity aims to empower those people to look beyond illness and injury, to regain their purpose, to reach their potential and have a positive impact on society.

From the moment I started the project, I knew that I also wanted to support Help for Heroes by auctioning the original painting.

50% from the sale of the painting will be going to Help for Heroes.

PAINTING SPECIFICATIONS

The painting took approximately 100 hours to create and includes some of the finest detail I have painted to date.

I use high quality paper and paint to create my art; paintng on heavy weight 140lb Arches Hot Press paper and using Winsor Newton Designers Gouache.

The painting comes unframed as it is safer to transport a valuable painting unframed. It also gives the owner opportunity to add their own personal touch by selecting framing options themselves once they have the painting.
