Description
The 4486th Fighter Squadron was activated 1 October 1985 at Eglin AFB, Florida to formally manage the Reconnaissance Evaluation Program (REP) and create the Air-to-Ground Weapons System Evaluation Program (WSEP). Redesignated the 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron on 1 December 1991 and moved to Hill AFB, Utah on 19 May 2019, the squadron is responsible for evaluating every precision air-to-ground weapon type delivered from every combat-coded fighter, bomber, and remotely piloted aircraft in the US Air Force inventory via WSEP, also known as COMBAT HAMMER.
