Description
On October 6th 1986, as part of a NATO exercise; the 81st Tactical Fighter Wing successfully launched one hundred and five A-10 Thunderbolt II's all within forty five minutes. Aircraft from six Tactical Fighter Squadrons took off from the closely located twin bases; RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge, Suffolk, England. These were: 78th, 91st, 92nd, 509th, 510th and 511th. Not only was this looked upon as being the most USAF fighters ever to be launched at one time, but the wing also set the record for the number of aircraft fully mission capable and ready to fly. This scene is from an area of the RAF Bentwaters base that was home to the 511th Tactical Fighter Squadron 'Vultures'. Featuring aircraft: 80-275 and 80-277

I purchased this print a year ago (or longer) and I'm finally getting it framed. While I was at the frame store several people commented on how great this painting was. I am always fascinated by the detail that Matthew incorporates into his paintings. However, the people in the store commented on the perspective of depth that comes out in the print. One person was particularly impressed by the impression of depth depicted in the aircraft hangers. I have now have three limited addition prints from Matthew and eagerly look forward to my next purchase.
