The legendary Flying Scotsman powers over a picturesque viaduct amidst the vibrant colours of the British autumn countryside; beautifully restored by Riley & Son (E) Ltd on behalf of the National Railway Museum. Bearing running number 60103, this mighty A3 Class locomotive proudly wears a livery matching its late 1960s British Railways withdrawal condition; painted in British Railways Green and fitted with smoke deflectors and double chimney. The distinctive maroon coloured carriages (BR Mk.1) were the standard design for the UK's rail network throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
In a magnificent tribute to Flying Scotsman, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight performs a respectful flypast, featuring three legendary World War II RAF aircraft: the Hawker Hurricane, Avro Lancaster, and Supermarine Spitfire.
Brought together in one scene, this is a classic meeting of the finest in British engineering. Impeccably restored and maintained, they represent a heritage that's admired worldwide.
